Feeling overwhelmed?
You are not alone.
If you are feeling unsure of your next steps, we can help. Our experienced advocates can walk you through the options available to you. That way you can make an informed choice that you feel is best for you and your future.
What are your pregnancy options?
Abortion
If you are considering terminating your pregnancy, it is important to have all the facts. While we do not provide or make referrals for abortions, we believe every woman deserves the right to compassion, care and accurate information in a safe and confidential environment so she can truly make an informed choice.
- At what point in my pregnancy can I no longer take the abortion pill?
- What can I expect to experience in a surgical abortion?
- What will happen to my relationship with the father of the baby if we don’t agree about the pregnancy decision?
We can provide you with information about both medical and surgical abortion procedures, as well as how far along in your pregnancy these can be performed. If you are considering a termination, it is important to know where you are in your pregnancy, as this can impact what procedures are utilized. Our limited obstetrical ultrasounds can provide valuable information to date the pregnancy, and to verify it is a viable pregnancy (as opposed to an ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage).

Parenting
At Blue Ridge Women’s Center, we want you to know that no matter what, you do not have to face parenting alone.
- How will I be able to manage a child financially?
- How will carrying a child impact my relationship with the baby’s father?
- How will I be able to accomplish my educational or career goals with a child?
- What will I do about childcare?
If you are considering parenting, we can help you recognize and work through potential challenges you might face, as well as identify resources available to you in the community. We can connect you with multiple community supports to help make the journey smoother, such as prenatal medical care, financial assistance, housing and counseling. You can learn about childbirth, breastfeeding and other parenting topics through our Parenting Program.

Adoption
Adoption can feel like the scariest option, as many parents-to-be feel they cannot possibly carry a baby to term and then “give it away”. We understand this fear. Our advocates can help you better understand the three types of adoption – Closed, Semi-open and Open – and explore whether this option might be good, not only for your baby, but for you.
We are able to share information about adoption with you, with no obligation, so that you can look honestly at the benefits and challenges of adoption, and make a determination as to whether this option might be a good choice for you.
