We can schedule your appointment two or three days after you miss your period. If you aren't having regular cycles because of the birth control method you use, a recent pregnancy, or some other circumstance, please explain that when you contact us.

No, you can collect your urine specimen after you arrive at Blue Ridge Women's Center. Just avoid drinking anything for two to three hours before your appointment so that any hCG (the pregnancy hormone) in your urine will be concentrated enough to get an accurate test result.

We only provide pregnancy testing on urine specimens. If you need a blood test, please contact your doctor or contact us for a referral to a local OB-GYN.

Yes, when you have a positive pregnancy test at Blue Ridge Women's Center. If you've had a positive pregnancy test at home but need nurse verification, we'll just need to do a retest here at the Center first.

No, our medical clinics neither provide nor refer for abortion. However, we do provide medical services that many women considering abortion find beneficial—including limited obstetrical ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy test results, verify that you have a viable intrauterine pregnancy, and determine how far into your pregnancy you are.

Our medical professionals can answer your questions about abortion, and our pregnancy options consultants offer the opportunity to talk about your concerns and explore your options with someone who has experience addressing the issues unplanned pregnancy can create.

Our medical clinic focuses specifically on early pregnancy services: pregnancy testing, verification, and dating by ultrasound. For routine OB-GYN services, you would need to see your regular healthcare provider.

Our consultants have varying educational backgrounds; some have formal counseling education, and all have gone through a rigorous training process with Blue Ridge Women's Center, but they are not licensed counselors and can provide only what is considered peer counseling. If you would like to see a licensed counselor, we would be glad to provide a referral for you.

We can provide information about adoption, referrals to licensed adoption agencies, and a neutral place for a woman considering making an adoption plan to meet with an adoption social worker. However, we don't act as an adoption agency matching adoptive parents with children, nor do we profit in any way from making adoption referrals.

If you want to find out more about making an adoption plan for your child, you can make an appointment to talk to an adoption social worker in a no-pressure environment here at the Center. If you want to find out more about adopting a child, we recommend that you contact a licensed adoption agency such as Commonwealth Catholic Charities, Bethany Christian Services, or Family Life Services.

Blue Ridge Women's Center is funded by donations from people throughout our service area, and staffed by trained volunteers (including medical professionals who donate their services) in addition to paid personnel.

No, our services aren't limited to women below a certain income level or within certain cities or counties. We provide our services free of charge to any woman who seeks them.

We do indeed! We can find good homes for new and gently used maternity clothes, baby clothes up to 12 months, baby equipment, etc. (For safety reasons, we can only accept car seats and cribs that are new.) If you have diapers that you weren't able to use before your baby outgrew them or unopened formula/baby food that you won't be using, we would be grateful for those as well. Donated items can be dropped off at the Center any time we're open. Thanks so much for thinking of us and helping out mothers in need!
