Thinking about abortion? Think about visiting Blue Ridge Women’s Center first. Blue Ridge Women’s Center provides complimentary services addressing the questions many women have before they schedule an abortion:
  • Am I really pregnant?
Blue Ridge Women’s Center offers laboratory-quality pregnancy testing to confirm the accuracy of your home test, and our medical staff can also verify your pregnancy by ultrasound. This ultrasound can show whether the embryo implanted in your uterus (about 2% of pregnancies implant in the fallopian tubes [1], a life-threatening condition requiring medical intervention) and whether there are early signs of a threatened miscarriage (around 15-20% of pregnancies end in miscarriage [2], most of them during the first trimester).

  • How far along am I?
An ultrasound at Blue Ridge Women’s Center can assess how many weeks pregnant you are. Some women want to know this because they would not feel comfortable terminating a pregnancy beyond a certain gestational stage; for others, the timing makes a difference in paternity, or in the type of abortion they would be considering and the cost involved. Many women find it valuable to see exactly what’s going on in their body while they’re still in the decision-making process rather than waiting until they're about to abort.

  • How does this fit into my life and my future?
When a woman faces unplanned pregnancy, the clamor of voices can be so loud and the pressures so urgent that she wants a place away from it all where she can reflect on her circumstances, her feelings, and her concerns. At Blue Ridge Women's Center, we have years of experience addressing unplanned pregnancy and working with women to navigate its challenges successfully. Our consultants and support services are here for you, too.
